Metahabilitation
Katharina Paschburg
By borrowing a concept from psychology, the term ‘metahabilitation’ (Mikal-Flynn 2018) signifies growth beyond the former following a period of trauma or distress. When transferred into the architectural discourse, the aim is a meta-morphoses that goes beyond pragmatic re-inforcement or mere structural up-grade towards creative invention in space, typology, atmosphere, and gestalt.
